Following a group chat and some amazingly useful input about the idea i have chosen, i am running with the idea to have sings (Not Balloons as i talked about) and let the signs take the viewer on a journey, but a newer better and more dynamic ending is to have a sign at the end of the ad that states that illegal downloading is wrong, basically. and the avatar's gun clicks over as if to have run out of ammo, then the game over symbol then roll down.
As it stand this is what i am going with.

Back at last
So with this third year demo client brief about illegal download awareness, i have chosen to take on a roll that produces a campaign to prompt a digital society to think about what effects the subject has on the gaming industry. My first breakthrough idea was to have a first person shooter style advert where the view can only see a hand and gun (as seen in my games such as the Halo series by Bungie, the Call Of Duty series by Infinity Ward and other such games .i.e. Doom by ID Software)
I want to have the feeling that the character is taking the viewer on a journey so i have created some images using 3Dstudio Max to explain the concept. The idea is to have a small level (because the ad is only 20 seconds long) The avatar will walk through and see signs promoting a anti illegal download vibe. The avatar will shot the signs in order of how the slogan will be phrased.
Now my idea for a ending was to have the avatar to shot the last sign and to walk in to a room as a door lifts open, then as the viewer steps through, the closing credits roll. First the screen fades to gray and a large GAME OVER enter from off screen then a bit of information about explaining the penalties that are being but inplace.

Here is the stage i got to developing the nose and eyes, what i have done is add allot of polygons around the structure of the face, pulled a section from around the eyes creating a space between each eye and slowly pulled Polly's out of the structure of the nose. on the second picture what i have done is place spheres in the eye socket and turned on the NURMS

More Trouble Every Day

Here i was presented with a problem i need to create a space for eyes, a nose and straighten out the polygons, having spent many good hours lining any quads and angles that maybe off centered i then found i would need to outline a diamond shape where the indent is on the skull and push the lines to form a hole to effect a eye. then using the same style on the eye but to a grander effect do the same for a nose. shrinking polygons and pulling line closer together ready to pull out a figure of a nose and eyes. This is the proses stage and out come so far with out the NURMS turned on.

Alter Ego (The Plan Was)

The plan was the neck. this is the point where i started to get a little cranky with the computer. OK so what i did was to try and stop the head looking like it still was A box, easy enough. on the fount of "The Head" I Place a polygon line down the side and pushed out the more of rounded face as you can see in the first image of this blog, with a litter hope and prayer we can pull it off! I found a button i forgot about, the NURMS that round of the object by levels and doing this before the neck was in place filled me with great joy showing me that its possible and, thus the language became a little more appropriate for a communal computer room. The next stage of "The Head" was to put in a neck by doing this, the language turned a little sour again trying to find out how to create it. The problem i had was how to do it, first i tried to stretch from the back of the jaw down. I must have spent the next day or two trying to find out how to do this. Eventually i was suggested to delete half of the neck and select all the deleted edges and pull!

The head (part 4ish)

On the neck stage as you can see in the first image of this blog, the neck was pulled down after deleting the a third if the head, this presented measurable amount of trouble. What i found out is that depending on the angle that the view window all matters on the out come of the shape. i spent a good few hours with the neck shooting off to all sorts of angles and points, till i realised i had not selected all the vertex's on the cut aways shape. One the shape was to a satisfactory and i could deal with it, i created a loop running around the middle of the neck as can be seen in the second image of the blog, i then had to give it a shape of a neck because its easy to see that a neck is not a vertical line, therefor pushing the middle lines together and stretching the lower outer lines of the neck to give more stability.

So this is the beginning of it all, my descent in madness, temper tantrums, abusive language and want of putting a foot in to the computer that we know and love as 3D studio max. To start with having only dabbled into 3D max, creating objects that has all been planed out by a voice of experience, i took it upon myself to create a avatar or "The Head" as i like to call it. having this in mind i set out with the first of with a box, a plan old box and set it in the center of the 3D max universe and had all sides centric to each other. Once i had this I had a few loop around the edges i used 2 on the sides and 4 runing around the box, and had the edged faces so I can see what in doing because I still do not know. Today i started my 3ds max avatar
i stated of with just a cube cut it in to segments and converted it in to editable polygon deleted half of it selected summitry from the modifier list, clicked on the left view and started extruding it to a human head shape, i then checked the subdivision surfaces and found my new facroit tool use NURMS to see it. The head need more poiligons to give the head more structure and a better shape. I did this by holding down the controle key and and selectiong 5 vertexs from the chin

Todays lecture talked about what visual culture -ie Painting, Sculpture, Movies and such
Also how cultures are forms of languages.
I found a word I hadn't come across yet, Semiotics.
Semiotic is how scosity produces meaning in a communication systems shared by a commitie.
The lecture talked about what was the fields of visual cuture in the 1920, this were pretty much Fine Art, Craft Design, Peforming Arts. but todays there is these filelds are still in play but there is the introduction on Mass and Electronic Media. ie- TV, Internet and still growing because of the culture change.

Playing back on Second Life! i had so much fun playing in a car driving around, today tho i realised that Second Life is just a glorified chat room just with a bit more polish to it. I feel tho if i was asked to play this say about six years ago as i was in my final year at school i know it would have been a phenomenon but now i don't really enjoy it, i mean don't get me wrong i would have thought that playing on a chat room for uni would be really cool but the fact that it is a glorified advert space and chat room just loses it appeal to me. In conclusion i guess I'm just getting old!

With the presentation on photographs that scream light and colour. i considered taking photogrphs pf the sky and seeing how pointing the camera at the sun in a english winter, and these are my two favorite out of the album, I took great plesure taking these photos because i brought a 512mb memory card for the camera so i could take pictures till my heart was content insted of the normal maximum 17 and that anoyed me immensely! The first photo is the sky and i photoshop'ed the image to bring out the blue and put the building and the trees in to a silhouette, i think the image could have a inch or two taken of the bottom of the image, but i love how the blue sky and the clouds reverberate the black of the surrounding areas.
The second image i tried to take a photo of the sun showing light, and the sun peaking in between the branches again i think the image could have been croped, i think taking in the image in from the left. with this shot i only changed the brightness filter in photoshop up a touch and i thought that was a nice comliment to the image. the part i like most on this photo is the circles that apear around the light shining through

Come Christmas I had only a few presents, TRANSFORMERS Monopoly! its awesome even tho there are a few cards missing, causing a few Monopoly fights on Xmas day. Also I reserved A collection of Thomas Harris books The Silence of the Lambs, Red Dragon and Hannibal. I love the book the are now probably in my view the best trilogy of books every published and the films adaptation are equally as good, all but the film to Hannibal. I found the movie some what much diffrent to the noviel, il explain! There was a lot of key elements to the novie that were missing, i know its going to be some what difficult to place a 600 page book in to a 2 hour movie but still, loving the books im going to bitch a little. There is some notiable absences from the novile such as the characters 'Margrot Verger' only a secondry role but the sister to 'Mason Verger' one of thee key characters in the plot, also Jack Crawford again probily only a secondy role but still vital to the element of the movie. With these characters gone there are going to be some parts of the plot that can not be in the film. One problem i have with the film is the ending when 'Dr Hannibal Lecter' feed the child brain. In the book the child is a annoying little brat who to annoyes the Dr to feed him the brains, In the film its the Dr who feeds the child and the scene is almost backwards.
But apart of that, I Really enyoyed playing around with the multi-angle featurettes at the start and i guess that alone almost mad up for film

In the tutorial we look at some of the pixilation vidoes and just had a chilled group crit about them, askin what does it remind you of, how do you think it could be improved and did you enjoy it.
We had a the dovious comments like the videos remindings us of the White Strips music video The Hardest Button To Button. The music video is a progresive moving stop motion with a new fraim on every drum beat dtums and apm stacks moving down the street and so on
Also a music video that i completly forgot about and i think ive only seen it a few time but i was impressed by it, im not a big fan of the band Coldplay but the video to the track scientist is awsome, so im just gonna share it was ya then love and leave ya!

Having this oneshot film on a trypod as a DVAVI (720 x 576)
I had the idea of having a set up of a guy just sat in normal colths looking scruff with long hair just portaing that he is a avrage joe, and on the other hand there is a guy in a suit/shirt and tie showing a class distintion. We gotta shot in between a one or two and uncut! So the idea was to have it showing a social class, greed and waist. Having these in mind we shot a film with two guys sitting, one having a papper with avrage joe looking over and genraly annoyin the other higher classed guy, till the higher classed guy give the lower classed guy the paper, then a argument brakes out between the two resulting in the paper being distroyed. Also posing a eco question showing the common waste of papper

We gotta get a book from the libery and read a chapter and wright on it so i got out "Digital Photographer's Handbook" By Tom Ang. I found this page on poor subject detail that i found very intresting "Images lacking overall BITE and sharpness amd and subject detail is soft or low in contrast overall" i found out that is not just a comon thing due to good old fashion photography is just as common on digital cameras to, its only annoying when its not ment to of happend but still just as bad! the solution i found is a simple little bit of photoshop trickery all you gotta do is increse the image contrast and the colour saturation to help with appearance of the image sharpness!

Today we had a lecture "How to Evaluate Depends on What Your Evaluating" BY Dr. David Downes. The leture was about research and understanding. what we found out that research is a investergation and a enquiry the only prequestisite is the desire to ask questions. So we also found that we do research to gain a understaing by process, application, methords and content. There are two types of research by reading and wrighting and also by doing and evaluating. We was also advised to check out this book and a graphics fround "Visual Rsearch" By Ian Noble & Russel Beastley so expect a blog about that so fokes
we found out about what are primary research marketing stratagies. They are directly communcating with the costomer, interview and survey the audence, also collecting primary data consulting potental users, usability testing, testing prototype, interviews surveys observational and understanding your audiance. Together with secondry research or exesting research, publishing surveys, interviews and analysis of a range of sucesful stratages
In the seminare we was also advised on planing research and i found this odvious an its one thing i never do! TIME!!!!!! KEEP TRACK OF IT! i one thing i never do and i really really really need to start taking it in to consideration.

First Week, Is This Normal?

So freshers week is over with, hope thats a good thing and its all down hill from here.
Was fun tho met loads of random people, many i will not remember ( Obvious reasons, i'm not going in to it ) but hay im a noob so i win!
Joined the rock soc at the city freshers fair, was quite random with some guy shouting his face off about his colon, don't think he knew what that is tho, maybe!
I'm actually glad i enroled on to multimedia, i didn't quite understand the diversity and choice that the course offers, guess because there is always something new to explore, and the chance to become the hotshot.
